The 4-State Lady Lawyer blogs were created by Penny J. Umstattd-Cope, a lawyer from Missouri.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies and Theatre Arts from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri in 1987 and my Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Law in 1990. I was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta fraternity. In 1990 I was admitted to practice in the State of Missouri. I am a member of the Missouri Bar, the Audrain and Jasper County Bar Associations, and The U.S. District Court-Western District. I served the public as an assistant prosecuting attorney and as an assistant appellate public defender before leaving for private practice.

My focus is on providing the highest quality legal services to my clients. I am a native to Central Missouri and was raised with Midwestern work ethic, its values, and its reputation for
integrity. I make every attempt to bring these items to each client I represent.
